Sonisphere August 2009 get ready

The Knebworth rock saga continues with the infamous venue hosting the very first UK Sonisphere Festival. Ex-Download Festival guru Stuart Galbraith has provided a line-up sure to whet the appetites of any heavy rock fan. Organisers have downplayed the idea of Sonisphere being a direct rival to Download, although the line-up paints a different picture with metal, nu-metal and hard rock festival regulars, who wouldn't look out of place under the Donnington tyre, lining up. Aside from the comparisons, Sonisphere promises to be a raucous event with seriously hard hitting headliners in the form of Metallica and Linkin Park. This is one weekend unlikely to disappoint those ready to “rock!”

It’s all happening from 1-2 August in the grounds of Knebworth House, Hertfordshire.

Sonisphere Festival Camping

The space in Sonisphere festival has more than enough for everyone on site. That makes it as big as Donington Park or the sites for Reading and Leeds Festivals. particulars about the special Campsites will be coming here soon.

Family Camping

We will have a Family and Quiet Camping areas to allow those attending Sonisphere to find some respite from the excited partying going on somewhere else. However, you will need to book a divide pass for the Family Camping area.

Gas Canisters

We have determined to ban Gas Canisters from the outset, the extensive abuse of Gas Canisters at almost every major rock festival means we have decided to start Sonisphere without them. As an alternative you can use mini, disposable, or hexi BBQs or we will have a BBQ area with some big solid BBQs so everyone can cook up together.

Tents

You should actually only bring a Tent the size of the people camping in it. Ie not 2 people in a 8 person tent.

Introduction To Sonisphere Festival

The Sonisphere Festival is a series of summer music festivals which will held across Europe from June 2009. The festival is owned and promoted by Kilimanjaro Live with financial backing from AEG.
The thought for Sonisphere was first pictured when Stuart Galbraith, was working for now business competitors and managers of Download Festival, Live Nation. The plan was to grasp a sequence of events that would 'translate into other lands. The event did not begin to materialise however, until Galbraith left Live Nation for events company Kilamanjaro Live. Galbraith gained the support of influential metal band Metallica who will help curate the festival in coming years, however, rumours were rapidly left without of them being signed to a multi million pound deal which would see them headline the festival for 3 years. Galbraiths tactics for future festivals are to enlarge the number of festivals making the event global rather than local to europe, increasing the UK event to a 3 day festival and rising the UK capacity from 40,000 to 60,000.
