The British edition of the Sonisphere Festival will take place over two days on Saturday August 1 and Sunday August 2, 2009 at Knebworth House, Knebworth with headliners Linkin Park (Saturday) and Metallica (Sunday). The festival will have four stages of music during the weekend, with the main two being staggered staging, the others being within the Bohemia village. The Bohemia stage (the third of four stages) is an undercover stage and as such will be able to continue past the sound curfews placed upon the main stages.

- Frank Turner was also originally confirmed for the main stage, but was forced to pull out for undisclosed reasons.
- The Sword have also withdrawn from the lineup because they were tired.
- Fear Factory were also scheduled to play but cancelled all tour dates.
- Thin Lizzy were also scheduled to play on the Sunday, but as the band has parted ways with guitarist/vocalist John Sykes they have been forced to pull out.
- Machine Head were originally billed to play the third spot on the Sunday. However they pulled out after Stuart Galbraith, the festival organiser, had moved Limp above them without informing the band. As the third spot was a part of Machine Heads contract to play, the band decided to withdraw themselves from the festival completely.
